Immigrants - one rule for us, one rule for them

A reader gave us his views on immigration and the benefits system.

Is it just me or are other people worried about the problems caused by membership of this wretched European Economic Community?

I recently accompanied my son to the local Jobcentre as, despite having a degree, he is unable to find a job. Whilst waiting the half an hour past our appointment time, I happened to read through some literature that had not yet been defaced and which was lying around on a nearby, cracked table.

In it, I noticed that further copies of that leaflet, which was information on how to claim benefits, were available in 26 other languages and, if you did not speak on of those, translations were available in whatever language you could speak!

In other words, immigrants who are not even able to speak English have the Department of Work and Pensions bending over backwards to help them claim unemployment benefits you, I and other taxpayers fund?

“But there aren’t that many non-English speaking unemployed anyway” you might say? You are probably right. Most of them seem to be employed in front-line “customer-service” positions by councils, banks and other institutions in what, I am convinced, is an attempt to make it as difficult as possible for us to complain about anything!

I read the newspapers and note with interest the application of the Racial Equality Laws in this country. I smile when I hear about incidents which the Police would normally just note but do nothing about, suddenly being taken extremely seriously if one of the involved plays the race card.

I wonder at the bleatings of the local immigrant associations who claim their members are singled out for abuse. How can they be so surprised? Their members choose to live in little groups, to wear different clothes, follow different religions, eat different foods and can’t even speak the language? They may dress all in black and cover all their faces except their eyes, by-pass our laws on the wearing of crash helmets and set themselves up as apart from everyone else living in this country, and then they complain they are treated differently? Whose fault is that?

What finally prompted me to write this rant has been the proliferation of “UK Border Patrol” programmes on TV. On these shows, even on those rare occasions when officialdom catch would be illegals trying to get into this country or those who are already here illegally (and often working, taking the job which my son so desperately needs!), they simply make a note of their details and let them go on bail? I for one would love to know how many known illegals have been caught, arrested, released and are currently at large again in the UK?

And if you think me a racist thug for my views and blame me and “others” like me for the recent successes of the BNP, you should know that I am black - that is black, not “ethnically challenged” or of a “coloured persuasion” or any other of that politically correct rubbish! I was born in India, emigrated legally to the UK many years ago, and consider myself British, as reflected in my speech, my integration with the local British community, my willingness to obey English Laws and, in all ways, to act British, not set myself apart!

I don't believe you. Are you black? or are you Indian? No, I think you're just a small-minded bigot who oozes bitterness. The BNP is just the right party for you. I recommend you join it and become a regular attendee at their meetings. You'll find plenty of extremists there who share your views. You never know, if you scare enough people you might become a councillor. Oh sorry, then you'd have to do something for someone else rather than worrying all the time about your own petty life. Europe and the rest of the world are out there by the way. It doesn't bite.

since when did councillors have to do 'something for someone else'???

absolutely amazed at mr haydons comments - i would say that they were almost racist and perhaps he, in his 'small minded little world' shoud get in the real world!

Hear hear! But I think you suspected, and I thought too, that someone would jump and scream 'racist' at you and indeed someone is recommending that you join the BNP for your views. Unfortunately 'racist' is the tag given to a lot of people who are just fed up of the onesidedness of the situation here in the UK.

I appauld your views, and before someone screams racist at me (which they will), just so you know, I share my home with a British-born Pakistani guy who also agrees with you.

Completely to the point, Mr Robinson has clear demonstrated the concerns most of us in the UK now have, it is becoming more and more difficult to find job and live a "British" life the way we want to in "our own country".

I enjoy our country for all it has to offer and extend this to people around the world to enjoy and savour our beliefs, our traditions, our country. It is "Their" choice to live in the UK, not ours! If they do not like the way the British people speak and act then please accept our greatest gift, the right to leave!

Well done Mr R, very well written, a pleasure to read.

The crux of the matter is, that thanks to our Government's complete failure to police our borders we do not know how many folk have come into this country, who they are, where they are, and moreover what they are doing. I wouldn't be at all surprised that Mr. Bin Laden and the entire regiment of Afgan irregulars lived in Dymchurch.

The UK is the most populated part of the EEC, ie we are full to bursting. With the best will in the world there has to be a point where the line will have to be drawn - or will  there only be standing room only.

Pass right down the car please!

It is typical of bigots like Simon Haydon to criticise one commentator by calling him a liar and saying that BNP meetings are full of extremists. I know he couldn't have been to one. If he had attended one he would see it to the contrary. Simon sounds very immature. Nick Griffin gave a brilliant maiden speech in Brussels (now on YouTube) saying that it is the war-mongers who would benefit (oil, construction and arms manufacturers) if the West waged war against Iran. He said they should send their own sons to war to come back with their arms and legs blown off and their sanity destroyed. I don't think it went down too well with the liberal elite as they don't seem to like hearing the truth. Over the next four years our two MEPs are going to propel the party foreward and open the eyes of the most discriminated people in this country. The English. I hope it is not too late by then.
Posted on 01/08/2009 at 12:33 by Mike,
All you folks with non white skins just dont get it do you, all bleating on about how you are British and have integrated into UK society, well good luck to you and thats how it should be,
BUT you cannot join the BNP because they wont let non whites into their party.
So much for standing up for all British people!

I fail to see what a supposedly reputable organisation like Kos can achieve by running a blog like this, other than dragging its own good name into the mud.

"I wouldn't be at all surprised that Mr. Bin Laden and the entire regiment of Afgan irregulars lived in Dymchurch."

If that's the level of debate us liberals can expect from the extreme right, then I'm afraid you've lost the argument already. I'm also surprised at the assumption in some of the comments that "British" means white anglo-saxon. It doesn't and that's the joy of living in a society in which lots of cultures live side by side.

Now all we need to do is to get rid of the pound and adopt the euro so that I don't have to change money every time I travel. I bet Nick Griffin's plentiful expenses come in Euros so why shouldn't we all have them.

Alex, you certainly sound as though you have issues but is it the fault of foreigners? Doesn't sound like it to me. Looks to me like foreigners are the easy target.

And the intolerance of the BNP is the exact reason why they're so horrible. talk to your gay and black friends about how they feel to be picked on by the likes of the BNP. I wouldn't want my friends to be humiliated like that.

Jack White condemns YourShepway for running this forum which gives people of all persuasions the chance to air their views.  Judging by the terse comment of Mr White he obviously hasn't much to say but this paper gave him the opportunity to express his view.  It is called 'Free Speech' - something that will be denied to all of us if we are dragged by this amoral government into the EU.  As for the juvenile Simon Haywood he should get his facts right about the BNP.  He would never be allowed into a BNP meeting as we don't allow bigots in our party and if he managed to wheedle himself in he would be chucked out - neck and crop.  As for homosexuals.  We have nothing against them as long as they keep it private and I know of at least three who are in our party in Kent.  What we don't approve of is the teaching of five year olds in schools the pleasures of gay sex.  Indeed, under the auspices of Simon Haywoods beloved EU they have started issuing in schools books in Germany promoting paedophilia. I will give the titles and how you can access proof of this information regarding this in another letter. I very much doubt if the great liberal - Simon Haywood is married and has a family.  He obviously isn't concerned with the future of this country. Fortunately the BNP are.

I agree with you.  I dont mind people from different countries living in the UK if they are here legally.  My ex-boyfriend was from Iran and he was here illegally and I didnt know that however he had to go to court they said you need to leave the country and yet 2 years down the line he has moved to London and lives there.  He was on benefits and had a council house and they were the only things that were taken away from him after court.  I think that there should be a plane that is dedicated to illegal immigrants and once they have been told to leave the country they should be put in jail and transported to the plane and arrive in their country of origin.  If they are that desperate to live in UK then they should apply legally.

Because of the way the UK has gone with these people coming from overseas and taking over the country I am now living in Australia..I am from Herne Bay and will never come back!

Over here in Aus many of the jokes are about the English and how they have let the Foreigners take over.

Harry - Check the name. It's Haydon, not Haywood. And by the way, we're already in the EU. A conservative government took us in 30 years ago. Good old Ted. And it would be one of the biggest honours of my life to be chucked out of a BNP meeting. Tell me, do you all still wear Doc Martens and cut your hair short or are you guys now infiltrating civilised society? Oh and Yes, I'd love to see proof of the German government promoting paedophilia. You are, as usual, talking nonsense.

Katy, of course illegal immigrants should go home. But let's make sure they're not going home to murder or rape shall we?

And Mr Blanthorn, aren't you an immigrant down under, rather like the ones you're so angry about? Are you sure the Ozzies don't feel the same way about you Poms?

Come on folks, lighten up a bit. You're all so angry.
